Herbs for Spring Detox
(That Aren’t Just Trendy Buzzwords)
Stinging Nettle
As the seasons shift and the days get longer, many people feel the natural urge to “spring clean”—and that includes the body. But instead of diving into intense cleanses or trendy detox teas, I like to take a gentler, more supportive approach using herbs that nourish the body while encouraging it to let go of what it no longer needs.
Spring is a time of renewal, and in herbal traditions, it’s also a time to support the liver and lymph—our built-in detox systems. Rather than forcing detox, these herbs support the body’s own processes.
Here are a few of my favorites:
Dandelion leaf & root – A classic spring tonic. The leaf is rich in minerals and gently diuretic, while the root supports liver function and digestion.
Cleavers – This fresh spring green helps move lymph and reduce stagnation, especially helpful if you’re feeling sluggish or puffy after winter.
Nettle – Full of nutrients, nettle helps nourish the blood and reduce inflammation. I love it in tea, especially combined with other spring herbs.
Gentle, consistent herbal support paired with plenty of water, fiber, and movement can go a long way in helping your body feel lighter and more energized this season.
